Watching the flick on TCM that night, I was shocked to discover the potential mirror of times passed to a conceivable times future with workers and their rights here in the United States. Astonished, was I, to see how employees were treated in this movie... It was almost as if I had been complaining to all who would listen, as well as blogging to all that would read my posts, about happenings and writings of yesteryear... that were occurring... or en route to occur again in the twenty-first century... It was as if I were a modern day (female) version of John Steinbeck! [I take no claims to be the writer he was!] His novel, The Grapes of Wrath, told of the struggles of workers during the early 1900's; and showed what could happen to the present day labor force in the United States if greed and the Republican Party have their way with workers in this country and make way for history to repeat its self. How we could revert back to a time akin to the past that, in effect, would result in a modern day grapes of wrath.
If you have never seen this movie, developed from Steinbeck's classic book published in 1939, take a look at the video; delve into the author's full intent by reading the book, or do both. The movie brings together great stars such as Henry Fonda, Jane Darwell, and John Carradine. The story's developments are bound to knock your socks off!! They certainly did mine!!
