Note to Reverend Al Sharpton,

A Public Note to Reverend Al Sharpton,

After dedicating hours of time and energy seeking information on who presidential candidate Bernie Sanders really is and coming across other concerned Democrats doing the same, I decided to pose this note in hopes that you would take a bit of time to play a role in performing the well-needed vetting voters deserve in order to make informed decisions prior to casting votes for Bernie. With Bernie insisting on staying in the race despite calls for him to concede it concerns me that he is using the people for monetary gains for himself, family, and friends. What pushed me over the top was seeing the image shown below. My heart sank because I have found out so much about Bernie since investigating him online. Seeing the looks on the faces of some of these Black youth made my heart sink because one can very clearly see how much they are putting their hopes and trust in Bernie Sanders’ promises.

I went to one of Bernie’s campaign websites, BlackMenForBernie.com, and read a statement wherein Bernie compared his political career to Hillary Clinton’s by stating she campaigned for Barry Goldwater at the beginning of her career. He failed to mention that Hillary’s father was a devout Republican and everyone knows children tend to follow their parents when it comes to politics; and that once we figure out who we are as individuals we change course if disagreeing with parental examples. Sanders also did not mention that Hillary figured out who she was by the Vietnam era and has been a Democrat ever since whereas Sanders is only running as a Democrat for money and publicity. He, himself, stated this fact on more than one occasion.

In the above mentioned statement, Bernie’s propaganda twice makes reference to Hillary in a way that suggests she may not like Black people. Specifically, in the following two sentences:

Although Hillary Clinton claims to support the black minority cause, she initially campaigned for Barry Goldwater, who voted against the Civil Rights Bill and was well known for not supporting desegregation.

Hillary Clinton may not be a racist, but she campaigned for one as a Republican when she first began her political career.

Statement 2. goes on to say, “Bernie Sanders has always been consistent with his support for African-American causes and minorities in general.”

Bernie’s statement about supporting Blacks could not possibly be true when his home state of Vermont has the second highest African American incarceration rate in the United States. In addition, speaking of minorities in general, Vermont’s rate of incarceration for Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans are high as well (although the latter two have fallen in recent years).

It truly disturbs me that the media is not vetting Bernie Sanders and thereby allowing him to prey on these innocent unknowing impressionable and vulnerable youth. College students, African Americans, Hispanics, and other racial minorities need and depend on the real leaders in society to have their backs when vultures come clawing and right now Bernie the bird is using the Black community to gain power.

Using social media as a tool is the only way I have been able to help get this information out with my little voice which is like an ant on Mount Everest compared to your vast reaching microphone. Therefore, I am asking you to take a stand against this vulturism on Black and other minority communities before it is too late! It is quite clear to many who are paying attention that the main stream media is pushing for a Bernie nomination so they can begin to use his self-acclaimed socialist title against him. Should this occur, the Democrats would likely lose the White House because the Republican Party will have a field day bashing Sanders on his beliefs. They will probably call him a communist a Marxist and a slew of other labels itching to release themselves from conservative back pockets.

What’s more, Rev Al, is that you know the harm being done to Hillary Clinton with Bernie remaining in the race as it is. Agreed, it is his right to stay in, but he and his surrogates still continue to degrade our frontrunner––providing fuel for Republicans to use against her provided she wins the nomination.

The list of concerns about Bernie cluttering my mind is so long I would need pages upon pages to express them all. Thus I will address only a few more beginning with Bernie’s suggestion that Hillary is less concerned about the Black community than he is. With regards to Bernie’s supposed housing discrimination arrest shown in the video on the aforementioned website, some say it is not him in those images and as far as I can tell, no police records have been produced to prove he was actually arrested. Even Rep. John Lewis says he never heard of Bernie in regards to Civil Rights causes. But let’s pretend it is Bernie, without proof of arrest, for all the public knows he could have been released without actually being charged with a crime despite his claims to have actually been arrested.

Contrasting Bernie’s act (if that was actually him in the images), Hillary risked her safety when she went undercover in Alabama to gain information on school discrimination. If Bernie was being fair on his website maybe he would have mentioned that.

In his YouTube video shown here, Bernie talks about disproportionately punishing Blacks by putting poor people in jail as if he would not allow such a thing to occur on his watch. But the fact is Bernie was the Mayor, served in House of Representatives and in the Senate as Black imprisonment was rising year after year after year as shown in the chart below––on Bernie’s watch. The chart is from the Vermont Department of Corrections.

This image was too much for me to ignore…
